For people who had been subjected to accidents and terrible injuries may require a transfusion of essential fluids because of the things that they have lost. Patients who are given a transfusion receive whole blood elements. This medical procedure is done by transferring the blood products from the donor to another person’s blood stream. Most people who are involved in severe accidents and receive damaging injuries may have intense wounds and because of this, plasma loss occurs, thus blood transference is needed to make up for the fluids lost.
However, there are some instances in which the process of transferring blood seem to be a rare case in surgery. For that reason doctors require blood products. Doctors will also inform patients about the specific requirements of this procedure. There can be a small amount of time with regards to the options and health issues that must be considered, so it is vital that decisions should be made as quickly as possible. In case one of your friends wants to donate fluids for a patient, your friend’s blood must be drawn days prior to have the right amount of time needed for blood testing.
Blood transfusion is the last thing that must be done, because a person’s own specimens are the safest blood products. After all, transfusion is only needed if the patient will undergo an elective surgery. In other cases, there are some patients who refuse a blood transfusion. A deep understanding of the medical condition is significant, this will allow doctors to act on their best instincts and training to ensure the recovery in accordance to the specific standards of medicinal practice. Caution is also needed before making any big decision.
To assure that every patients have a safe blood transfusion it is necessary that you make sure health-care provider verifies the patient’s name and matches it to the blood that is going to be transfused, this must be done to assure the patient is given the correct blood amount. However, some patients may experience shortness of breath and chills during the process of transferring the blood, if this happens the person overseeing the movement of the blood must be informed. On the other hand, there are actually two sources which blood can be provided. One is the autologous blood which is known as your own, and the other one is the donor blood, or other person’s.
There are also some instances when blood lost during surgery is placed back into your body during surgery. However, most of the time it only happens during urgent and elective surgeries. This process also gives the patient the advantage of minimizing the need for blood transfusion during their medical operation. The only thing you need to consider is planning to prevent the pre-operative donation.
Furthermore, before undergoing surgery some of the patient’s blood is replaced with IV fluids. Then after the surgery the blood is replaced within the patient’s body. This process purifies the patient’s own blood and requires a smaller amount of blood transfusion. However, this process allows limited amount of blood to be removed.
Protein Grazing and The Bodybuilder

In the early 1990s, bodybuilding was taking over south California and seeing a puffed up bodybuilder in a tank top on the beach was about as common as seeing a girl in a bikini. Everyone wanted to be a bodybuilder. Everyone read the muscle magazines, wore their bright colored Zubaz pants and Optomix shoes, and everyone seemed to always be trying the flavor of the week, whether it was a training methodology, a crazy diet, or just some weird fashion move.
One such dieting phase which had its fanfare for a few months, then faded into obscurity, was known as bodybuilder baby food grazing. Some of the top professional and amateur bodybuilders of the day would often consume several jars of baby food – every hour of the day – in an effort to give their body nonstop nutrients for growth. They posed for articles and interviews while taking shot after shot of Gerber goodness!
Once the novelty wore off, lifters surely probably missed their steaks and protein shakes, and realized the returns they were seeing for chugging down gross tasting jars of baby food weren’t worth the efforts. Plus, they probably got tired of toting around 40 baby food jars everywhere they went, and paying the insane prices that are seen on baby food. Nonetheless, it was an amusing phase and a reminder that anyone will try anything, if they read it on the pages of a muscle magazine.
For today’s bodybuilder, the idea of grazing might not be such a bad one. Most of us adhere to the general guideline of eating protein every three hours or so in order to maintain a positive nitrogen balance in the bloodstream, and keep the amino acids present for muscle repair and growth. Heck, we would all attach a protein IV to our body if it was feasible, right?
You may want to explore this idea. Toy with the example of the jars of baby food, with your own variation. Perhaps try drinking 1 cup of water with one scoop of whey all day long. See how your body handles it. If your digestive track doesn’t become upset, and you are able to continue consuming your regular meals without interruption, then perhaps you should try it for a week and see if your recovery, muscle growth, and overall body hardness increase as a result.
There will be some discrepancy between the results seen by natural versus chemically assisted lifters. Anabolic steroids provide the lifter with highly increased protein uptake ability. So the lifter who is “on” will be able to use more of the protein from his food. Natural bodybuilders will urinate the protein away, or see gains in body fat from the caloric excess. This could be a factor to consider when applying the use of protein grazing for bodybuilding purposes. While it may not be fair, it is the reality of the sport in which we choose to compete. The assisted athletes will indeed see greater gains and better results from protein grazing than the naturals – although both groups might enjoy the benefits of protein grazing!

3 Steps to A Healthy

Many men and women today work long hours and find it difficult to take time out to just relax. If you are stressed out by your job, skip meals to meet deadlines and find no time to enjoy life you could be heading for a health breakdown. You need to start exercising, eating right and socializing and make time for your family. Here are 3 ways you can be healthy and happy:
• Exercise: In this age of technology most things are accessible at the click of a mouse: you can pay your bills and shop for almost anything online. As a result you may find that you are a little heavier than you would like. If you are overweight, you risk developing high blood pressure, diabetes and heart problems. You don’t need to become a fitness freak; taking the stairs, doing chores around the house and walking will help. Of course regular workouts are best as they help raise immunity levels and keep the heart healthy while endorphins released will help reduce stress and enhance euphoria.
• Diet: To stay healthy and fit you need to regulate your daily calorie intake. On average, for men it is around 2500 calories and for women 1900. This will vary from person to person according to age, height, weight and how active you are. You should make it a habit to eat nutritional meals and cut out foods high in cholesterol which is one of the main causes of heart problems. You should drink at least 2-3 liters of water a day as it helps flush out toxins. If you smoke, give it up and stop drinking alcohol, sodas and coffee, or do so in moderation.
• Sleep: Stay healthy by sleeping six-seven hours at night. If you work long hours and sleep little, you run the risk of falling ill as fatigue will lower your resistance. Sleep also helps your body repair and recharge itself. When you sleep, your brain releases a hormone called melatonin which helps regulate sleep patterns, boost immunity and prevents heart conditions. During the day, you should squeeze in some power naps – if you work, put your head down on your desk and get in a half hour of sleep sometime in the middle of the day. This will help you feel fresh and boost your memory and focusing powers.
Stress can affect your health in many ways so you need to find ways to relax. Meditation, massages, a long bath, hobbies, socializing with friends and spending time with family are good ways to relax and let go of all the stress and negativity that is part of our professional and personal lives. Get annual medical check-ups so that any ailments detected can be dealt with sooner rather than later. If there is a will there is a way and if you really want to, you will find the time to make the changes to help you stay healthy and happy
